Here in Western Texas we are suffering through a serious drought. Wishing to conserve what little water we are allowed, I installed several of these water barrels. It was really a simple project to the installation. I installed them directly under the gutter outlet pipe. The first rain and they were running over. So I was able to collect over 100 gallons of rain water, and am using that water to keep my few trees and plants alive. The water barrels are really nice and looks like they will last. One thing I did is I placed them on concrete pads that I purchased from the local hardware store. What is really great about them is the opening on the top, it is made of screen which keeps mostly trash and bugs out of the water. And I will add that my trees and plants just love their rain water. That's it in a barrel of water.
