The 1000W Metal Halide bulbs will produce a 250' radius of light in clear water. This can attract fish from up to 3 miles.The light kit comes complete, ready to plug in. There is simply one plug between the ballast and the light, and then the 120V power plug. To run on 240V power, you will need to change the input plug. I had 2 of the 400w units. The first one had a bad light so I got a new bulb free of charge. (White, they were out of green.) It still didn't work. The company sent me a new ballast. That didn't work until I put the old light bulb in upon finding it full of water. So, the first 400w had a bad ballast then the glue around the light dissolved and gas bubbled out making light broken again. I figured I got a lemon so I purchased a new 400w light and out of the box broken! This company was slow to ship replacement parts. Just all around dreadful experience.
