Advanced Controls

The SST-900i offers one-touch seasonal adjustments, allowing you to increase watering in hot, dry months and reduce it in rainy periods. Purchased this item in my local HD store. Overall quality is good. Easy to program, easy to wire. I have tried RainBir, Orbit, Toro and DIG, and I have 8 valves for my yard. For now, I keep this RainBird and return all others.

Pro:
1. Individual program to every valve: you can set individual start time, watering duration for each of them. This function allows me to adjust different start time for different zone, and different cycle for different zone.

2. Just use the dial to switch to each function, very easy to understand and program.

3. Very easy to connect wires to the device. In other brand's products, you need to press hard to insert the wire to the connector.

4. Information panel is clear: the information is clear, an easy to read. I especially like that it tells me what is the next station to water at what time/date.

5. Overall quailty is good. It is beautiful, and fit quite well in my garage wall.

Con:
1. The major issue is the fix cycle time. For every station, you can set how many cycle to water in a day. However, the starting time of every cycle is fixed. For example, if you set 3 cycles a day for a station, the duration between every cycle is fixed (4 hour.) Like in Los Angeles, we will have no-water rule as of Jun/01/2009, no watering for lawn is allowed 9am to 4pm. In this function, I can not water my lawn twice a day with this device. Need to do it manually.
