Product Description
For a trouble-free gravity flow poultry drinking system you will need to have a reservoir - with this Bulkhead Assembly you can easily convert a 5 gallon bucket or other container to supply your water. This assembly includes a PVC shut of valve with garden hose threads so you can build your system with common garden hose and fittings. The bulkhead and valve are 3/4" diameter for good water flow. To install the bulkhead, drill a 1-1/2" hole in your reservoir and screw into place. A large gasket provides a water tight seal.Poultry Waterer Bulkhead Fitting Assembly, Build Your Own Gravity Flow System Review
I did not follow directions which specified a 1 1/2" hole. I sawed a slightly smaller hole, and filed just enough for a friction-less fit. I also used a de-burring tool to assure a flat mating surface. I did not use any sealer. This assembly has an O-ring built in. I have had no leaking after several months, not one drop. I used a plastic bucket from a national home improvement center, works fine. I use this for my chickens along with thesehttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006LAVDLI/ref=wms_ohs_product
BTW I installed the nipples as directed (another purchase at link above) and they do not drip either, my chickens always have clean water.
