I live in South Dakota and winter can be COLD. After years of using 1500 watt stock tank heaters, I decided to try one of these to save on electricity. I have one in a 100 gallon stock tank. It keeps the ice off the top down to about 10 degrees. When it gets colder, I drop a floating one in the tank. It saved me $200 on my first month's electric bill after I bought it. We have four stock tanks and I am just sorry I did not find these sooner. Last winter my electric bill was over $500, so far this winter the highest has been just under $300.

I liked this so well, I bought two to put in my five gallon bucket poultry nipple waterers. I dropped one in each bucket and They do an amazing job. The chickens have fresh water available all hours all winter long. The big advantage to these is that they don't need an extra cage around them like the old fashioned stock tank heaters. It is safe, and does what it is supposed to, giving my horses and chickens water in the coldest days of winter.

I bought these lights to accent my koi pond. They are easy to use, look great at night and draw very little power. I did have an issue with the transformer getting wet and shorting out, but Laguna was very helpful and sent a replacement set. My favorite part is the light sensor- it is an incredible sight at dusk to see my waterfall lit up! They are pricey but well worth the extra dough.
