This particular design, using low water flow with ground submersion and river-rock covering, goes forty-eight hours requiring less than three quarts to top-off the reservoir--And this during 98-100 degree high Oklahoma heat.

Because the basin design does not have a direct bottom feed, tubing must be used from the pump to a flat-bottom stem-feed at the bottom of the vase. Therefore, pump head pressure is increased. I recommend a minimum of a five hundred gallon per hour submersible pump to achieve the flow rate shown here. I ordered the lantern and it was shipped arrived fine and was happy with it and had it sitting in my living room waiting for nice weather to go put it where I want to outside.

Then my four year old nephew ran into it with a yoga ball, inside the house, and it fell over, onto carpet, and broke a large hole in the lid. I have never seen anything break like that from just tipping over before. The resin in the concave areas of the roof/lid near the top is very thin and it shattered like an eggshell.

Alita Air Pump 80 LPM Review

This pump has only one moving part---a diaphram that vibrates and creates an INCREDIBLE amount of air flow. The only other air pumps that can approach this much air production---to run huge, deep airstones---are piston pumps which can be difficult and expensive to maintain. They also have a risk of oil contamination of air in poorly designed models. Every couple of years a new diapram kit can be used to refurbish this pump at home. I use six wide 8" air stones made for ponds and run them at 5-ft. deep in my koi pond. My Koi always enjoy the maximum air saturation levels possible in their water and are comfortable in our "desert" area on the hottest days. The pump is expensive but durable and made with real quality control. It is well worth the price. It is replacing one that I used outdoors (with a lattice-vented plastic laundry basket turned upside down to protect it) for about 10-years.
