I purchased the hose about 5 years ago and it worked fine for a couple years. Into the third year the male end blew off. Kept the end and used the hose to wash the soap off my autos for a couple of years. When I needed a hose for my camper i decided to take advantage of my lifetime warranty. Even though the hose had their name one it clearly identifying it they said I had to have the original receipt and packaging. How stupid. Thermal paper receipts disappear in a year's time. And keeping the packaging? If i kept the packaging for every item purchased with a lifetime warranty I wouldn't be able to get in my house. Ok hose, but make a copy of the receipt and store it and the original packaging in a dark dry area like a bank vault($$) so if you need to take advantage of the warranty you will have all the necessary materials.

I actually have five of these things. I have one near each of our outside faucets coming out of our house (four) and I have one hanging in one of my sheds where I keep my gardening stuff and some of my beloved junk. These garden hose hangers meet my needs perfectly. They are:

Metal and extremely strong for what they are. They are not plastic so there is no danger of their turning brittle and cracking from exposure to the sun and are much stronger than plastic.

They are simple and unobtrusive. I am not a person who likes a lot of fancy yard ornaments. These blend in quite well with their surroundings.

For what you get, they are quite cost effective. They cost less than some of the plastic gizmos I find.

They are easy to install.

They hold up to 100 feet of standard yard hose...even more if you want to push it.

They do the job for which I bought them for, i.e. keeping my garden hoses organized, out of the way and safe from my lawn tractor. (I have a long history of shredding hoses as I do much daydreaming while mowing - I sort of go into a Zen like trance and am pretty oblivious to what ever happens to be in my way.)

Now there is a couple of concerns you might consider...nothing is perfect you know. These include:

They do NOT come with the screws required to mount them. For me this was actually a good thing. In another of my sheds - my "work shop" I have something like thirty or so large coffee cans filled with screws, bolts, nuts, washers and things I now not what are. I was able to sift through these cans and find just the screws I needed. I was then able to tell my wife, "See, I told you this `stuff' would someday be useful and I am NOT a hoarder." I have been collecting this stuff for over 50 years now and it is gratifying each time I find a practical use for it. It is precious to me.

These are metal. Rather heavy metal I grant you, but never the less metal. Metal in prone to rust. I get around this my inspecting these thing every now and than and if I see any rust starting (normally where the paint has chipped), I simply hit it with a bit of sand paper and then spray paint it with a quality outdoor paint.

I have mine mounted on 4x4s which I have placed in the ground and on the wall near the faucets. In the shed, I have them screwed to a stud.

I do have one of those large box type hose holders that allow you to roll the hose up which I keep near an outside faucet we have near the garden. It must be replaced this year because last fall our 92 year old neighbor lady decided she wanted to burn her leaves in a 300 mile an hour wind (that is an exaggeration of course) and the fire got away from her (Duh) and took out half my orchard along with the hose box, hose and a leaf raker I used it on the back of my lawn tractor. I was just grateful that it did not take out the barns, sheds and indeed, house.

Anyway, this is a good hose hanger and actually a very good buy at the price listed here. I paid about five dollars more at the local hardware. Not frills here...just a good practical and well built item.

This length of soaker hose will keep the water pressure steady without collapsing towards the end (a problem with the longer hoses in this style). My only criticism is that it is time consuming to set up unless you just go ahead and connect it to the faucet and turn the water on, at which point it becomes firm enough to manuever more easily. Of course this will get you pretty wet. I use it with the holes turned downward as a soaker. It does a thorough job when left in place for several hours, and more frequent surface waterings with a conventional sprinkler are then unnecessary, which is a plus.

Gardena 9042-BK Garden Hose Quick Connect Starter Set Review

I've been sick and tired of screwing and unscrewing hoses and bibs and nozzles for years. Dealing with washer fatigue and thread tape to keep everything a leak free as possible has been a pain. Plus the only hose bib is on the side of my house, about 75 feet away from where I actually need to use it and through a gate that I prefer to keep locked. This quick change system works far better than I expected. What a time saver to quickly remove my hand nozzle at full pressure with just a few drops lost using just the index finger and thumb, then plug it directly into my Gardena oscillating sprinkler (tilted away from me, of course)again with little if any lost water. It does take a little more pressure to insert the hose into the sprinkler because of the extra pressure the automatic seal needs to overcome, but just about anyone but severe arthritis sufferers or the relatively frail will have no problem doing it. Need a longer hose? connect two lengths together on the fly under full pressure. Need to switch out to a soaker hose, you can do it in seconds. Amazing.

I opted for the premium set because I generally have better luck with metal fixtures. They are fairly hefty, but they still have plastic sleeves and other parts. Is it better than the all plastic version? Those came with my sprinkler, and I haven't noticed a difference after about a month, but there might be a difference over time. If you just want to test out the system, the less expensive set will probably work just fine. The average gardener will probably choose to buy several sets eventually for all their connections,so you can opt up later if you like.

If you're on the edge, go for it. It's the best gardening tool I've bought for under $20.

Orbit 20066 Portable 1/4-Inch Outdoor Mist Cooling System Review

Nice item and I like it. The nozzles do a good job of creating a fine mist with the occasional stream instead of mist. The mist is not as fine as I had hoped for, what ever it falls on WILL eventually be wet. Depending on the temperature of your water source, it may or not feel all much cooler while in use. Tip: Use a light colored hose, a dark hose will certainly spew forth hot water.

My reason for dropping one star on the rating is that the nozzles are very very very fine. They WILL clog, guaranteed. And sadly, there is not so much as a mesh filter/washer included.

My solution cost another $5, I bought a mesh cone filter at the Depot/Lowes with the gasket molded into it, and then loosely shoved a cotton ball into the hose opening before attaching to the mister. The mesh cone filter will catch the cotton ball, and together they will provide decent filtration.

I had trouble finding the mesh cone filter, which I thought odd, as every sprinkler on the shelf came with one. I finally had to buy a two pack designed for pressure washers, along with various sizes of useless (to me) O-rings. Maybe you'll have better luck finding one for cheaper. You DEFINITELY need one. After just a few hours of use, the cotton ball was really disgusting. If you are using a brand new hose, you may have less gunk, but you still NEED the mesh filter/washer, the replacement nozzles are almost as expensive as the whole kit.

Melnor 300 Oscillating Sprinkler With Brass Nozzles Review

I have owned one for 15+ years and have found this unit to be excellent. Better than competitive products I have used over previous 15 years. The brass nozzles are what makes this product so great, despite its plastic body (to keep it price sensitive). However, A couple of cautionary notes:

1. The nozzles do get clogged with dirt. I cleaned mine annually in the spring with an ordinary pin
2. Except for the watering arm and nozzles, it IS of plastic. So yo gotta treat this with care. Do not drag this with the watering hose as it puts pressure on the hose fitting. The hose fitting is "glued on" to the direction control mechanism, as I found out. My sprinkler FINALLY got caught while I was dragging it (being lazy) and a couple of tugs on the hose broke it.

I am replacing the broken unit with another one (Unfortuntaely the price has gone up, but I'd rather deal with a reliable product)

Suncast RSW125D Mocha Wicker 125-Foot Capacity Touch and Go Hose Reel Review

I just got this hose reel, so I'll just go over my initial impressions.

Out of the box you get the hose, a package that contains the circle piece that goes around the end of the hose, two stakes, leader hose, and drain hose. Pretty standard to get it all setup.

After I got it setup, I had it pull in my 100' of commercial grade hose. Now the instructions say this is too thick of hose, but it wound it up without issue when the hose was coiled up right there. However because there wasn't any tension on the hose when I did this, it caused the spool inside to be wrapped too loosely, causing issues getting it back off. I then pulled all the hose out (which slides out nice and smooth, far easier than pulling off a pile), and went to pull it in again. Through grass it couldn't reel in my 100' with the water power, but again this hose probably weighs twice as much as the hose they recommend you use. Had to give it a little extra help, and when it got down to 50' or so it pulled it on it's own. I'm also wondering if the leader hose wasn't kinked, causing it to have less power to pull. Either way it wound up nice and tight on the reel this time.

Couple of things I wish these automatic winders had.
- Designed for thicker hoses, ie more power.
- A manual way of winding. I don't think the water power ever would break, but it would be nice to have a manual way as well.
- A way to attach a normal hose to the dump hose. 12 gallons of water each time you reel up your hose is a lot, would be nice to move it somewhere else with a standard hose.

Overall it seems to be about the same as the other suncast hose winders, other than the outside is a bit more attractive in my opinion. It also is quite narrow, and doesn't include a tray/storage like some others do.

Edit: Tried it with a more standard hose, works most of the time, occasionally gets caught and needs some help, but mostly hands off.
